Forget Not that God Loves Us

Thanks Court for the new topic!  This will be great.

Recently I have been having FHE in my home with my three roommates, one is inactive and the other two are not members.  We begin with a prayer, family announcements, a lesson, treats and activity.  I am happy to say that it has been really well received; my roommates even say, "Amy, today is Monday.  Are we going to be doing FHE?"  Yes!  I love that!

Since I have been doing the lessons, I have been really pondering and praying about what I should share.  I don't want it to sound preach-y so they turn away from any consideration of the Gospel.  I felt prompted to just teach simple truths and the most important being that Heavenly Father loves each of my roommates.

President Uchtdorf says it perfectly in his talk Forget Me Not, "He who created and knows the stars knows you and your name-you are the daughters of His kingdom... God loves you because you are His child.  He loves you even though at times you may feel lonely or make mistakes."  And my favorite part, though I did not share this part for FHE, "My dear Relief Society sisters, you are closer to heaven than you suppose.  You are destined for more than you can possibly imagine.  Continue to increase in faith and personal righteousness" (pg 123).

We are not just women of the world.  We are daughters in His kingdom.  What a wonderful, loving title.  I am grateful to be a daughter, that He knows and understands that I am not perfect, but that I can become more like Him through personal righteousness, and one day be welcomed into His eternal kingdom with open arms.

I hope my roommates can feel that same love one day.  That they can become one of His daughters too.  I will continue to share my testimony of the His love for them.

  1. Amy,
Thank you so much for sharing this experience. I love this! I really needed this too! I think sometimes we can just get so caught up in the world and other things that we forget how special we are. We all make mistakes, and we all go through different trials, but one thing we all share is we are all Daughters of our Heavenly Father. That will never change! :)
    Loves
    xoxo
